The T.G. Howard Community Center Inc. will hold its annual Easter program, “Hip Hop Easter” on Saturday, April 12, 2025. Last year over one hundred Easter baskets were presented to senior citizens in the New River Valley. Again this year, several young students will help deliver the baskets along with several adult volunteers.
The T.G. Howard Community Center will be facilitating its fourth annual hip-hop Easter program. This program was created to bring attention to the needs of senior citizens in the New River Valley. The senior citizens receive Easter baskets filled with various candies and special treats with important information from the local agency on aging. Alcester Cochran has received a basket each year.
“I really enjoy talking to the volunteers that bring the baskets. It means a lot that someone is thinking about us. My husband passed away several years ago and he loved sweets as well. The candy brings back fond memories for me. I especially like the little yellow marshmallow peeps, they are my favorites,” stated Ms. Cochran.
It is a wonderful feeling providing a little unexpected joy to our senior citizens each Easter holiday.
“We find that we are sometimes the only contact that they have with someone outside their home,” stated Guy Smith, executive director of the T.G. Howard Community Center.
The T.G. Howard Center in Pulaski will be collaborating with several churches and organizations to deliver over 100 baskets on April 12.
