The Roanoke City Sheriff’s Office is excited to announce it has been selected as one of twelve law enforcement agencies across the United States to participate with US United & The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office to bring holiday cheer to our community. This is the fifth year that US United & Genesee County have partnered to provide holiday delight in communities, however, a first for our agency. In addition, The Kroger Co. Foundation is a major supporter and contributor to this initiative.
For our agency, the strength of collaboration is central to everything we do, and we are honored to have been chosen as one of the locations to work alongside US United and the Genesee County Sheriff’s Office. Their dedication to supporting our community aligns seamlessly with our mission to give back to the people we serve. Together, we hope to create a lasting impact and bring joy to those who need it most. Nominations are accepted until Saturday November 30, 2024 or until 100 nominations have been received.
What makes this program so spectacular is it offers multiple ways for community members to participate, from nominating individuals who could use a pick-me-up to donating items and time, all culminating in a day of giving back.
We know that the holiday season can be difficult for some, and a simple gesture of kindness can make all the difference. Through this initiative, the public is encouraged to nominate a neighbor, friend, or loved one who may need a little extra support. Whether it’s someone going through tough times, facing health challenges, or simply in need of a reminder that others care, this is an opportunity to brighten their holiday season with a thoughtful gift box filled with essential items and festive treats.
For those who wish to give back, we invite individuals, businesses, and community organizations to contribute to the cause. Donations of goods are encouraged, and tax-deductible monetary contributions are also welcome. Items such as non-perishable foods, hygiene products, and holiday treats will be used to fill the gift boxes. Monetary donations will help ensure that these boxes are packed with everything needed to make a meaningful impact. Your support can help bring a smile to someone who might otherwise go without this holiday season.
To participate, or nominate someone. Visit https://forms.gle/8vLQREgsfZVhgc2B6 to submit a nomination for someone who would benefit from receiving a holiday box. Donations of goods or monetary contributions can be made at the Sheriff’s Office located at 340 Campbell Ave or by visiting https://www.us-united.org/ for a tax-deductible donation.
On Friday, Dec. 13, 2024 volunteers are invited to come together at The Berglund Center to assist deputies in packing the holiday boxes. This hands-on experience is an opportunity to connect with neighbors and law enforcement officers in a shared moment of community building. Sign up to volunteer on December 13th by contacting Kala Gilbert at 540-853-1766.
On Saturday, Dec. 14, 2024 the Sheriff’s Office will deliver the completed holiday boxes throughout the community. Deputies and volunteers will personally deliver the boxes to nominated individuals, spreading cheer and making sure that those who need it most feel cared for and appreciated. This day of giving will foster a sense of connection and kindness, demonstrating how we can all come together to make a difference!
