If Winter comes, can Spring be far behind

March 7, 2026

As predicted, the snow and ice slowed the pace for everyone. And as expected, lot of accidents, power outages, and frozen pipes resulted from the weeklong winterization.

Arriving on the first day of March would indicate that it “came in like a lion, and therefore should exit like a lamb,” according to the old adage.

How symbolic the new political season that preceded it by a few weeks, ushered in on one of the colder days the eastern part of the nation had experienced in some time. It occurred in a time when the political and economic climate had never been more depressed and the hearts of men, having been pit against one another in such bitter rivalries for so long, had never grown colder or more frozen. But if winter comes, can spring be far behind, bringing about the subsequent thawing of frigid, icy rivalrous attitudes.

“Human tastes differ, thoughts, nationalities, races and tongues are many, and we are reminded in the Baha’i Holy Writings. “The need of a Collective Center by which these differences may be counter-balanced and the people of the world unified are obvious. Consider how nothing but a Spiritual power can bring about this unification, for material conditions and mental aspects are so widely different that agreement and unity are possible through outer means. It is possible, however, for all to become unified through one Spirit, just as all may receive light from one sun.” Therefore, assisted by a Collective Diving Center (the law of one God) as recognized in the reality of His progressive Manifestations, we can overcome the divisive and warring mentalities, that thrive on disrespect of differences.

All things in nature change as the seasons. Spiritual seasons also change with each new Manifestation of God – for a different maturity of mankind (usually a thousand or more years apart). Once the followers of each Manifestation become divided and confused (through interpretations) and often pit against one another, that Spiritual Sun is eventually eclipsed through impending darkness among its adherents. It is then that a new Spiritual Sun arises on the horizon to refresh and rejuvenate a new maturity of mankind just as the coming of Spring refreshes the earth and confers new life upon the phenomenal beings.

“O friends! It behooveth you to refresh and revive your souls through the gracious favors that in this Divine, this Soul-stirring springtime are being showered upon you.”
