Wellness center at Fallon Park meets fundraising goal with $80,000 grant
Local Impact for Tomorrow (LIFT) is proud to be included in the organizations receiving grants from The Roanoke Women’s Foundation for 2019. The Foundation awarded LIFT with its full request of $80,000 to fund the health and wellness initiative at Fallon Park Elementary School. LIFT is the result of a partnership between Carilion Clinic, Delta Dental of Virginia, Freedom First Credit Union and Roanoke City Public Schools and is expected to open in August 2020.
“We are extremely appreciative to The Roanoke Women’s Foundation for their generosity not only to LIFT, but to the entire Roanoke community. This grant allows us to fulfill our initial fundraising goal and stay on track to provide these life-changing services to the Fallon Park community,” said Shirley Holland, Vice President of Planning and Community Development at Carilion Clinic.
The centerpiece of the program is a new pediatric health clinic and community center to serve students and their families. The center will provide access to onsite physical, mental, dental and financial health professionals and services, enabling students and their families to stay healthier and have brighter futures.
“LIFT was created as a partnership between three Roanoke-based companies, and it’s gratifying to see that another Roanoke organization understands the value of this program and is willing to support it. The Roanoke Women’s Foundation does incredible work with non-profits across the Roanoke Valley, and we are honored to receive this grant,” said Frank Lucia, president and CEO of Delta Dental of Virginia.
