The Roanoke Chapter of Chums, Inc. wrapped up a busy spring with the induction of a new member, Avis Reynolds, on May 11, 2025.
In March, Roanoke Chums celebrated its 65th Anniversary at the Salem Civic Center. The venue was beautifully decorated, the food was delicious and the dance floor was full as members and guests danced to the Queen’s Court Band from Charlotte, NC. The Roanoke Chapter was the sixth chapter chartered into the national organization that now has 39 chapters.
At its April meeting, the Roanoke Chums installed its new officers for two year terms. Officers are Pam Edwards, president; Bethanie Mickles, vice president; Stella Carpenter, treasurer; Faye Shareef, recording secretary; Paula Morgan, financial secretary; and Muriel Mickles, corresponding secretary.
On May 17th, Chums participated in the historic Gainsboro Block Party and the Local Colors festival.
Chums, Inc. is a non-profit organization that provides opportunities for women to meet in friendship and fun, as well as promotes civic, cultural, educational, and social improvement. The national theme is “Listen to the Children…enrich their lives.”
