Rather than dreaming of one day being a movie star or professional soccer athlete, when Amanda Burch grew up, she wanted to be a lawyer. The Roanoke native held onto that dream, despite whatever obstacles came her way.
Today, Burch is not just a lawyer; she is a standout in the legal world. In her role, she represents individuals, families and businesses across a range of legal issues that often have life-changing and long-term impacts.
The Lawyer of Distinction honor is awarded to attorneys who demonstrate excellence through a combination of professional achievement, ethical standards and peer recognition. Burch recently earned that distinction.
“My selection was based on my dedication to client advocacy, my legal experience and commitment to upholding the integrity of the profession. It is an honor that reflects not only my work, but also the trust my clients place in me and the standards I strive to maintain every day,” she said.
From an early age, Burch was taught that love is patient, consistent and selfless. She saw firsthand what perseverance looked like through her parents’ navigation of life’s challenges.
“I grew up in a two-parent household where my family was deeply rooted in our Christian faith. That foundation shaped every part of my upbringing,” she said. “My parents did more than provide for me, they were intentional about showing me what love truly looks like through their actions, sacrifices and commitment to one another and our family.”
Burch attended Patrick Henry High School and graduated in 2006.
Her collegiate journey began at Clark Atlanta University. There, she was introduced to an environment that challenged her academically and helped shape her ambition.
“I later continued my education at Georgia State University, where I earned my bachelor’s degree in political science with a concentration in pre-law and a minor in Computer Information Systems,” Burch said.
She added, “Before attending law school, I pursued two master’s degrees with a very intentional purpose. I wanted to deepen my understanding of negotiation, human behavior and strategic thinking, all of which are critical, both in the legal field and business.”
Burch’s desire to continue making a difference in the world is stronger than ever. When all is said and done, the daughter of Sherman Sr. and Cathy Burch wants her legacy to be one of integrity and consistency.
“I have been deeply impacted by mentors and colleagues within the legal field who have guided, challenged and invested in my growth,” she said. “Through hands-on experience and real-world practice, they taught me what it truly means to advocate effectively, prepare thoroughly and represent clients with both skill and integrity.”
