WWII Veteran William “Bill” Dabney was presented an unexpected, unique handmade quilt designed as a replica of the United States flag, and a pillow designed in red, white and blue, in recognition of his service during the Normandy Invasion in 1944.
Mrs. Shirlene Bowles made the presentation during the September meeting of the Roanoke Chapter of Omnia Bona Club, Inc. hosted by Mrs. Violet Robertson. The gifts were made by Mrs. Janice Jamison of Union, NJ, whose joy is honoring veterans, who she feels deserve the recognition.
Mrs. Jamison, a total stranger to Mr. Dabney, learned of his service while reading about WWII veterans on the Internet. Mr. Dabney and his family are deeply appreciative of her generosity and kindness to him and other veterans.
