“The Marcus M. Wilson Scholarship Fund” (MMWSF) held its Inaugural Luncheon on Saturday, April 26, and all were thrilled to share and agreed it was a wonderful success! We had a great turnout, and the room was filled with love, encouragement, and community spirit. Our emcee for the afternoon was A’ron Wilson, a 2023 graduate of William Fleming High School, who did a fantastic job leading the program with professionalism, energy, and heart. We were proud to have one of our own in this important role!
The guest speaker, Yolanda Joseph a 2023-2024 past recipient of the MMWSF delivered a heartfelt and inspiring message. She shared her story of family, upbringing, and perseverance, and spoke powerfully about what we, as a community must do to support children who are being bullied. She urged everyone to reach out and help a child at all costs; reminding us those even small acts of kindness can change life. Kameron Washington-Brown, a 2020-2021scholarship recipient, whose two songs deeply moved everyone in attendance, treated all to beautiful musical performances. It was a joy to also welcome back past recipients Blake Barnes (2015-2016) and London Paige (2021-2022), who continue to make us proud with their leadership and accomplishments.
A special highlight of the luncheon was awarding scholarships to two outstanding students: Bryce Penn and Hannah Daniels. Their achievements, hard work, and determination truly reflect the mission and spirit of the Marcus M. Wilson Scholarship Fund.
