The Marcus Wilson Scholarship derived through the desire of a mother’s dream to keep the memory of her son alive and to ensure that his life, although short, was not in vain. On the 10th anniversary of Marcus’ tragic death, the 37th scholarship was awarded to help students continue their education. This mother’s dream began with the goal of raising enough funds to award three scholarships a year in memory of her son, however, because of the generosity of friends and family enough funds were available to donate 7 scholarships this year.
The 2021 recipients include a diverse group of students from Patrick Henry High School: (Daphenie Joseph, Yajuwamungu Bora, Connor McLean Schulz) and William Fleming (Uyen Tran, London Paige, Khalil P. Saunders, and Arianna Rodgers). Who represent the image of Marcus’ circle of friends.
Like his mother, Lorena Wilson, Marcus was a person with a big heart who loved helping others.
