Since age four my daughter’s triplets attended weekly Baha’i children’s classes, initiated and facilitated by a Baha’i couple with years of intensive training to teach these classes. Also their training and parenting classes, not only enhances our own children but also the children of the world.
Consequently, the triplets (two girls and a boy), through multiple birth and consistent spiritual training in a multi-cultural setting, are thoroughly indoctrinated into an atmosphere of loving cooperation as opposed to competition as subliminally instilled from infancy in modern day society.
Therefore the situation is becoming increasingly awkward as the two girls were entered into a pageant before understanding its true competitive nature. The two found themselves competing against one another and inevitably against the other contestants while attempting to participate by sharing equally.
It’s a popular fundraising method that has been used successfully for many years – but not in the new Revelation of Baha’u’llah (the Baha’i Faith) that forbids campaigning or any attempt to exalt ones self over another for any reason, thus creating the embryonic administrative order for World Peace that is not only possible but inevitable as we are told in the Baha’i Holy Writings.
Our seeming betrayal of values hit with full force on one Sunday afternoon when a preliminary public event was held at a local church. Parents, relatives and friends were invited to attend in support of each contestant. Upon arriving we found that only the mother of each was allowed to enter while each girl prepared her own table “unassisted.”
Others had to wait in other parts of the church until this was completed. Upon finally being admitted, I will never forget the sight of my daughter, who could be at only one table at a time, seated with the son and other relatives who came in support of the two, all seated at one table and the second triplet seated alone at the end of her long table with her head held high as she looked straight ahead. (Ironically that one is named Klaudia.)
While she appeared totally undaunted by the imbalance as I and two other friends joined her, I was burdened by the mixed messages she must be getting as this seeming perfectly innocent venture gets more contrary to all they have been taught – and learned so well. Each of them stands out among peers in their unabashed loving compassion for others.
Many mixed messages have been given throughout time that a maturing mankind, now in young adulthood, is questioning more and accepting less with blind acquiescence; children no longer complacently accept the words of those whose deeds differ from them.
Nor does any logic remain in waging war to end wars and injustice by others as the physical, spiritual and economic devastation to everyone involved continues to mount and contaminate our world society.
Today the one army that will prevail is the army of God Who promises in this new day: “He will come to our aid with invisible hosts and support you with armies of inspiration from the Concourse above…”
The eras of competition, division, selfishness and greed are now ending amid the devastation they have wrought. Surely it is time to Investigate!
