The Roanoke NAACP Youth Council proudly celebrates Nazier Jackson, who was elected 2nd Vice President of the NAACP Virginia State Youth and College Division during the organization’s historic 90th Annual Convention, held October 24–26, 2025, in Richmond, VA.
Nazier, son of Ashley Lawrence, represented Roanoke with excellence among youth leaders from across the Commonwealth. Lawrence also serves as co-advisor for the Roanoke Youth Council alongside Lorena Taylor-Rollins Wilson, who stated, “We are extremely proud of Nazier’s accomplishments and the way our Roanoke youth continue to represent our community with purpose and passion.”
The Roanoke Youth Council delegation included Christian Burnette (president), Paris Scott (1st vice president), and Simone Bryant (treasurer). Together, they participated in workshops, leadership sessions, and state elections, showcasing Roanoke’s growing influence in youth advocacy and civic engagement. We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to Dr. Brenda Hale, president of the Roanoke Branch NAACP, for her unwavering support of our Youth Council. The Roanoke NAACP Youth Council meets on the 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month from 6:00–7:30 p.m. at the Gainsboro Library, 15 Patton Ave in NW.
Membership is only $10 per year, and all youth ages 5–25 are encouraged to join.
