Milton Brown

“People don’t care how much you know, until they know how much you care,” Mr. Brown will tell you. As a much beloved member of Aviva’s Residential leadership team for the past 14 years, Mr. Brown has worked with hundreds of teens who have come through Aviva’s Wallis Annenberg Center. “With these kids, you have to be able to look past the behaviors to see what’s really going on,” he says. “These kids are survivors, not victims. They just have to get focused on what they really want.” Mr. Brown loves working, not just with teens, but with the other people involved in their lives and their treatment. “All I really am is part of a team. All of us together is what makes a difference for these children.”

Mr. Brown’s calm, patient demeanor, coupled with his compassion for the teens he works with makes him a highly respected member of the Aviva community, by students and staff alike.

Milton Brown is the son of the late Lawrence (Mr. B) and Hattie Brown. He was educated in Roanoke City Schools and is a 1968 graduate of Lucy Addison High School. While at Addison, Milton starred in football and track and field, setting several records in the state. After completing high school, Milton attended the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff where he completed his Bachelor of Science degree.

He has worked in the area of mental health for over 30 years. He was a dedicated member of Maple Street Baptist Church under the guidance of Reverend G. Thomas Turner. Milton presently resides in Southern California where he is presently employed as the director of Residential Services at Aviva Family and Children Services, Los Angeles, CA.
