“Delayed don’t mean denied.” Over 30 years of working on her self-titled CD Songs of Praise Evangelist Dana Pannell, with Divine Assignment Women of Worship, will debut at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 3, in the Shiloh Baptist Church Fellowship Hall. Pannell has performed from the East coast, to Midwest Oklahoma City.
The semi-finalist for INSP Channel Christian Artist Search, is also a shared winner of the 2004 World Billboard Song Writer Contest, with Steve Langton and Jamie Parson, a 2005 Roanoke Chapter NAACP Freedom Fund Awards Citizen of the Year for the Arts recipient, performer and producer of the live 2-hour special. She was also a featured performer at the 17th Annual Henry Street Festival, 2014 with her stage gospel play “Grace is in the House” and was chosen (out of 300) to perform at the 5th Annual Black Theater Festival in Washington, DC, 2017! She was also recognized at the Black Girls Really Rock presented annually by the Roanoke Chapter Continental Societies, Inc.
After the sudden death of her daughter, Tawanika Pannell-Penn on New Year’s Eve 2017, Pannell states she has been “focusing on God’s Word” through Bible study with the support of her family and the Shiloh Baptist Church family. The hardest thing a mother will do is bury her child and Tawanika was her biggest fan. A celebration of her life will be ending her new CD.
The Saturday, Nov. 3 presentation at the church, located at 201 S. Market St, in Salem, is free to the public and all are welcome!
