New Horizons Healthcare will celebrate its 15th Anniversary by hosting a commemorative event at the City Market Building’s Charter Hall on the Downtown City Market. The event is to celebrate and raise awareness about the mission and accomplishments of New Horizons Healthcare.
Health centers serve more than 23-million people nationwide (1 in 15 Americans), including 7-million children and 260,000 veterans. Health centers are also increasingly becoming the trusted provider of choice for many families, regardless of whether or not they are insured. Evidence shows patients choose health centers due to their convenience, affordability and range of quality services provided by a team of caring professionals.
New Horizons Healthcare has expanded over the years to provide a range of services for all ages: primary healthcare, behavioral medicine, counseling and case management; pharmacy and medication assistance; oral health services; health education and chronic disease self-management, as well as assistance with insurance enrollment under the Affordable Care Act.
“As the only community health center in the Roanoke Valley, we take pride in the fact that we have taken care of our neighbors for 15 years,” states Eileen Lepro, CEO, “and New Horizons has become a vital part of the local safety net. Our founders envisioned a place where people could receive comprehensive, coordinated care under one roof and with the addition of our dental clinic and expansion of behavioral health this past year, we have achieved that vision. We also recognize that our health center is just part of the solution for improving health in our community. That’s why we partner with other providers and organizations to mobilize available resources to make a greater impact. We look forward to continuing to see a transformation in the health of our community over the next 15 years.”
Health centers rely on a mix of federal and local funding as well as insurance reimbursement and patient fees to continuously meet the growing demand of Americans needing access to affordable healthcare.
