NORFOLK, VA (WAVY) — Behold the green and gold! Norfolk State University was the champion in a national challenge presented by Netflix and HBCU Buzz.
The challenge followed the series premiere of ‘A Different World,’ a sequel series to the hit show that concluded in 1993.
That series (a spinoff of The Cosby Show) followed the lives of students at Hillman College, a fictional HBCU.
The sequel follows the same premise, but through the lens of a child of the original main characters, Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert.
In the A Different World Challenge, HBCU students were invited to show off campus culture, traditions, friendships and experiences.
Through Norfolk State Campus Life, the team shared a student perspective on belonging–one that makes room for individual expression within a shared campus culture.
With over 11,000 votes, NSU took the crown for the challenge.
