FERRUM COLLEGE—All are extended a personal invitation to Poetry Night at The Panther’s Den with Frank X Walker & Shauna M. Morgan, at 7:00 p.m. Monday, Nov. 9.

Frank X Walker, professor of English and African-American and Africana Studies at the University of Kentucky, is the author of more than five poetry collections in which he addresses universal, regional, and racial issues in historic and contemporary contexts.  He is the 2005 recipient of Lannan Literary Fellowship in Poetry, won the NAACP Image Award for Poetry in 2014, and served as Kentucky’s Poet Laureate 2013-2014.

Ferrum students have read Walker’s work every semester since January 2001 and have enjoyed his many visits since then.  This visit, (his first in more than five years), comes at the request of students inspired by his work.  Shauna Morgan, assistant professor of English at Howard University, will accompany him.  A reception and book signing will follow.

The event is open to the public and located at 435 Ferrum Mountain Rd.
