Roanoke City Public Schools (RCPS) launched its new brand identity, including logo and division and school websites, on Wednesday, June 28, 2023.

RCPS keeps students at the center of every conversation, decision, and initiative, and in everything the division does. RCPS students, staff, and families are unified in the ongoing purpose to prioritize literacy, high-quality instruction, Career and Technical Education, meeting the needs of each student, and a sense of community.

This new identity is the visual embodiment of this concept, artistically symbolizing a diverse group of students and teachers unified in a mission of learning together as one. Their unity also forms a star  — long seen as a symbol of achievement and a beacon of which the Star City is well known. The colors are bold, diverse, and full of life and energy.

As Superintendent Verletta White often comments, there is something special happening in Roanoke City Public Schools and the new brand and online experience reflects the values, energy, excitement, and diversity of the school division, the students and families, and the City of Roanoke.

RCPS students, families, staff, and the School Board participated in the development of both the logo and website design. Roanoke-based AccessU, a creative consulting firm focused on education, including K-12 schools, designed the new logo. The division’s new website and school-based sites were developed in collaboration with Blackboard, a leading EdTech company serving higher education, further education, business, and government clients.
