The Roanoke Higher Education Center Foundation (RHEC Foundation) has received a $50,000 grant from the American Electric Power Foundation to launch “Social and Racial Equity: Diversity in Partnerships,” creating new opportunities for educational access and job training in the Roanoke Valley. This new, needs-based scholarship program will serve minority students who plan to pursue an academic program with any of the educational member institutions located in the Roanoke Higher Education Center.
This fund aims to open doors to career advancement by offering access to new job skills, training, and certification programs.
General Program Information: Students are invited to complete the online application prior to the deadline. The scholarship application will open on Monday, Feb. 21, 2022, with a deadline to submit, Friday, April 22, 2022, by 4 pm. All application submissions are final as of that deadline with no exceptions!
Late submissions will not be accepted and scholarship awards will be applied to a single academic year.
Eligibility During the 2022-2023 Academic Year: Be enrolled or plan to enroll in a degree, certificate, or other academic program offered by one of the member institutions through the Roanoke Higher Education Center: CodeVa, Commonwealth Learning Systems, Dabney S. Lancaster Community College, James Madison University, Old Dominion University, Radford University, Region 5 Adult Education, Total Action for Progress, Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia State University, Virginia Tech, Virginia Western Community College; A minority student who demonstrates financial need as evidenced through completion of a FAFSA form or similar evaluation document.
