The Roanoke Chapter of The Links, Inc. welcomed seven new members into the organization during a beautiful induction ceremony May 6 at the Roanoke Country Club.
An estimated 40 active and alumni Links members were in attendance to witness the accomplished women join an organization whose membership consists of nearly 15,000 professional women of color in 41 states, the District of Columbia and the Commonwealth of the Bahamas.
Roanoke chapter inductees include: Tami Amos, Carolyn Clark, M.D., Diane Jones, Stephanie Jones, Angela Penn and Donna Robinson, all of Roanoke and Kecia Smith, Ph.D., of Blacksburg.
The chapter also ushered three members, Thelma Haynesworth, Brenda Miller, and Saundra Butcher, all of Roanoke, into alumni status with a special ceremony.
The Roanoke chapter is one of 287 chapters of The Links, one of the oldest and largest volunteer service organizations of women who are committed to enriching, sustaining and ensuring the culture and economic survival of African Americans and other persons of African ancestry.
The Links Roanoke chapter president is Connie Steele; Jennifer Alston is vice president.
