One of the youth outreach projects for the Roanoke Breakfast Lions Club (RVBLC) is the Peace Poster Contest. This year, like other years, we continue to be inspired by the artistic talents of seventh and eight grade students. Addison Middle School participated with our club for the second time this year.

The top three students along with their parents and teacher were invited to our club meeting on December 2 to receive their reward. Two students, Alberto Dominguez-Burnett (1st place with our club and 3rd in the district), Abdul Sharifi (2nd place) and their parents were present. Jeffrey Stallings, art teacher at Addison Middle School, was also present. His excitement and love for his students was obvious. Zion Leftwich (3rd place) and his parents were not able to attend the meeting.

After Stallings shared the process, each student was asked to discuss the thought behind his representation of the 2024 Peace Poster Contest theme “Peace Without Limits.” Roanoke Valley Breakfast Lions Club awarded each student with $50 and the teacher with $100 for art supplies for his classroom. Stallings expressed appreciation for Lions Clubs continued support of art in schools.
