October is National Roller Skating Month and as part of a nationwide initiative launched by the Roller Skating Association, Skate Center of Roanoke Valley is joining hundreds of other rinks to offer a Free “Learn to Skate Class” during the month. Mark your calendar for Thursday, Oct. 11 from 5:30 – 6:00 pm. When rental skates will be available for the skate class at no additional fee. Those who take the class are invited to stay and enjoy the public session that follows, also free of charge. Additional attractions, such as laser tag and play zone are not included with this promotion.

Roller skating is a perfect activity for physical fitness and it’s fun for the whole family. But if it’s been awhile, the free class is a great refresher for parents and will get first timers off on the right skate.

Ahead of the free lesson on October 11, Skate Center’s team of instructors will be available for live or prerecorded interviews demonstrating balance exercises, falling, and getting up and answering any questions about the benefits and safety of indoor roller skating.

Skate Center of the Roanoke Valley, also known as Lee-Hi Skate Center, located at 4121 Brandon Ave, has been owned and operated by the Conner family for 36 years and offers indoor roller skating year round along with a playzone for children younger than 11; laser tag, an arcade and redemption center along with skate lessons and equipment for sale. The rink is also available for celebrating birthday parties and other special occasions.

For more information, call 540-989-2000.
