Congratulations to Joshua Wooten on winning the freshman boys inline speed skate competition in the Mid-Atlantic League Meet held in Hagerstown, MD on April 30. He placed first overall in the Southeastern Regionals Speed Skate Meet held May 6 in Hickory, NC.
Joshua and 9 members of the Omni Speed Skate Team located in Roanoke and Harrisonburg, VA will travel to Lincoln, NE to compete in the USA Roller Sport National Competition in July. The Omni team will represent Virginia in individual and relay divisions competing against 200 other speed skaters from across the nation. Speed skaters during the weekly event range from elementary (age 9) through veterans (age 65+).
Joshua is the son of Tonya Young and Tony Wooten, the grandson of William and Mary Young and the late Kenneth and Nancy Wooten and is most appreciative of the support of family and friends throughout the year.
