Students, staff, family members, friends, and community leaders gathered on Thursday, February 26, for The Excel Center’s Term 3 Celebration Ceremony. Surrounded by faculty and leadership from Goodwill Industries of the Valleys, students were recognized for the hard work, perseverance, and determination they demonstrated throughout the term.
The celebration honored students for outstanding attendance, Subject Superstars, A/B and A Honor Roll achievements, successful completion of Standards of Learning (SOL) exams, and Character Award recipients selected for exemplifying perseverance and leadership,.
The celebration’s theme, “Watch Us Grow,” was woven throughout the ceremony. Despite significant challenges, including winter weather disruptions, seasonal illness, and the everyday responsibilities of work and family, students demonstrated resilience and commitment. Many balanced jobs, children, and other personal obligations while continuing to show up, stay engaged, and push toward their goals. With family and friends cheering them on, students were recognized not only for academic accomplishments but also for the determination it took to reach this milestone.
The event highlighted both academic success and personal growth, core elements of the Excel Center experience. Faculty and leadership applauded students for overcoming obstacles, supporting one another, and remaining focused on earning their high school diplomas.
The Term 3 Celebration served as a powerful reminder that growth often happens in challenging seasons and that with determination, encouragement, and opportunity, students can and do rise above.
