New Hope and Halesford United Methodist Churches (The Kelly Charge) recently held a concert to raise awareness of our many hungry neighbors. Admission was free to this “Green Bean, Corn and Peas Concert,” but attendees were asked to bring a case of food to help area food ministries.
Forgiven (Halesford Baptist Church Men’s Chorus), Disciples of Faith, and Loudon Avenue Christian Church Men’s Chorus performed, singing and praising God! Over 60 door prizes were awarded to attendees, adding to the festivities! The churches collected over 350 CASES of canned food for food banks in Roanoke, Rocky Mount and Smith Mountain Lake areas, more than double the amount from last year! Thanks to the generosity of the audience and performers, $630 was also donated to Feeding America. Everyone enjoyed a fellowship meal after the concert.
Rev. Kelvin Edwards, Sr. host pastor, was very instrumental in making this event successful.
