The preposterousness of some American politicians’ rhetoric and speeches and undermining the voters, especially the minorities, are never ending in the divided American society. Seemingly, such politicians give up their morals and values and attempt to manipulate to capture people’s votes in the elections by any means. Such a behavior is not limited to the politicians of a specific political party, but indeed politicians from both sides of the aisle are guilty of it.
In a desperate moment of striving to impress and connect with the voters, the true feeling of many politicians can be revealed as they express non-making sense opinions, and perhaps, racist comments, which only devalue the role of the minorities in American society. Apparently, American politicians will always push the race and gender issue to influence the voters emotionally.
The latest Texas Primary election that puts James Talarico to run for Senate should not impress the voters as seemingly he is another White politician, who views the world from the color of his skin. Once, Talarico wrote, “White skin gives me and every white American immunity from the virus.” Indeed, he wrote this statement six years ago, but, however, the time is not the matter but the statement that reveals Talarico’s perspective on human skin color, which can be interpreted as a White supremacy.
The voters should not forgive the racist mindset of the politicians and the elected officials as every American must always remember that the U.S system is standing on a foundation defined as the U.S Constitution, which must guarantee the rights of all American, equally. The voters should not be surrendered by their own emotions in voting for the candidate, as perhaps, the Americans might not carry the weight to influence the U.S foreign policy but they play a major role in shifting most of the domestic policies in the nation.
Demand and protest are the two factors of the democratic society to bring fairness, justice, and equality to the Americans. And in addition to demand and protest, election is a major factor to elect the genuine person who is able to equally represent the American people. The politicians must not be defended for their blatant lies, racist mindset, and immorality.
Apparently, the California Governor, Gavin Newsom, should neither be regarded for his speech nor be valued for his new memoir for his preposterous comment with Black audience while he was on a book tour in Atlanta, GA. “ I am like you, I am not better than you, I am a 960 SAT guy, and I am not trying to offend anyone…if you got 940…I cannot read a speech.” Gov. Newsom said.
No Gov. Newsom, you are not like them, their SAT score is higher than 940, perhaps above 1400. Evidently, Blacks have tremendously impacted America as they were, and are, a vital part of this nation. However, when speaking to Black Americans, the White politicians ought to remember that America would not become a complete nation without Blacks.
It is as simple as a basic history to recognize a few of many Black scientists in America, such as Alice Ball, chemist, (1892-1916), developed an injectable treatment for leprosy. Benjamin Banneker, mathematician and astronomer (1731-1806), had a role in science details, including a wooden clock he carved, which was the first clock in the U.S. Patricia Bath, ophthalmologist (1942-2019), developed laser technology used in treating cataracts. Herman Branson, physicist (1914-1995), conducted research on sickle cell anemia.
