Trumpism is the greatest threat America has faced, including the Foreign Enemies in WWI, WWII, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and the Civil War. In the Civil War, the President of the United States was not the leader of the enemies to Democratic Principles; nor were the US Cabinet, the US House, the US Senate, and the US Supreme Court, especially, operating, in effect, as Domestic Enemies by facilitating Trumpism.
Since the threat is unprecedented, the responses have to be unprecedented. Leaders with the best intentions have not been able to thwart the trajectory to Fascism. Truth will out: If the ostensible Advocates for Democracy in power in DC knew in advance what would befall America in the event of a Trump victory in 2024 (and they did because Trump told us); but were unable to galvanize an opposing force to impede that eventuality, they are incompetent. If they knew and accepted it, they, too, are Domestic Enemies of the worst kind.
Leaders who were opposed to Trump’s rise underestimated his capacity to become the Supreme Ruler of America. They were ignorant about the extent of latent racism, deep-seated misogyny, weaponized religion, depraved indifference, functional ignorance, the abysmal state of American patriotism, and, most particularly, about the number of Americans who held a strong spiritual linkage to the philosophy of the Confederate Nation.
TRUMP’S FOUR-PEATERS – The groups of Americans who have been his most loyal supporters from the start.
TRUMP’S FIRSTIES: The individuals who supported Trump when he began his racist “Birther” attacks, as early as 2007. These supporters constitute the most critical factor for the rise of despotism. History has shown that no matter how evil aspiring despots have been, there have always been individuals who supported them. Without their FIRSTIES, aspiring tyrants would not succeed. Think about what would have happened if the first people with whom Hitler outlined his plan for world domination had taken a Louisville slugger and parked his head in the nose-bleed section.
My Christian friends reminded me that Satan persuaded one-third of the angels to join his rebellion against God. Trump convinced zealous Christians that the only way to demonstrate their true faith was by electing him — a racist, misogynist, sociopathic, deceitful sinner who violates all of their own God’s teachings. Radical Right Evangelicals (RREs) were willing cultists, however. They declared that Trump was sent by their God. Over 80% of Conservative Christians voted for Trump because he promised to establish an Ethno-Theocratic Government, e.g., an America ruled by White Supremacists.
The other three TRUMP-PEATERS: 2. Voted for him in 2016; 3. Voted for him in 2020; and 4. Voted for him in 2024 – including 2.3 million Black voters, over 1.5 million of whom were Black males.
Trump has lived his true character; but we have to look at the character of the nation that facilitated his rise to supremacy in American leadership. In 2024, 111 million voter eligible Americans failed to exercise their patriotic duty and vote, which was THE major factor in Trump’s reelection.

The road to Trump’s election was paved when the founders left unfinished certain aspects pertaining to full equality. For example, my ancestors could become Americans only if white American leaders deemed them to be. Nevertheless, the founders laid out the steps that future leaders must follow to effect the Principles of Democracy, which would have encompassed descendants of slaves.

The founders’ instructions to America’s future leaders render MAGA Trump’s Big Lie as defined by Machiavelli and Hitler, even if the second “A” is removed. America has never been GREAT despite the potential embedded in the Constitution, enacted in 1789.
Despite the Constitution, it took 131 years for women to secure the right to vote; 74 years for Africans to gain “legal” freedom; 165 years for legal segregation to be eradicated; and 79 years for the Bill of Rights to be extended to formerly enslaved people.
LEADERSHIP FAILURE: The formal leader of the political party and the nation is the president in power. The Republicans have had 26 opportunities and the Democrats have had 20 opportunities to develop America into a Full Democracy — They Have Failed! Trump proved that a party’s supreme leader, evil intentions notwithstanding, can foster major changes in America in just 100 days.

Perhaps Trump’s lesson will motivate true Advocates for Democratic Principles to orchestrate both the eviction of Trumpists from power, starting with fostering a high voter turnout in the 2026 midterms, as well as a return to the road toward Democracy.
