The Ivies Incorporated of Roanoke Valley, in partnership with Roanoke College’s Office of Community Programs & Office of Multicultural Affairs, is launching its first Community Forum on Thursday, Nov. 29, 7:30 pm in the Roanoke College, Colket Center Ballroom. The presenting sponsor of this event is the Unitarian Universalist Church of Roanoke (UUCR).
It is the intent of the Community Forum to provide a public meeting place for open discussion around issues that impact our daily living in times such as these. In so doing, the Forum’s inaugural speaker is Jim Wallis, author of the 2016 New York Times bestselling book, America’s Original Sin: Racism, White Privilege and the Bridge to a New America.
Tickets will be sold on a first come, first served basis, with no tickets sold on the site of the event! To purchase a ticket via pay pal or reserve a ticket to be picked up at will call the evening of the Forum, please visit www.paypal.com/us/fundraiser/charity/2419080. For more information regarding tickets or the author, visit https://iviesincorporated.org/events/.
In addition to website purchases, tickets are for sale at The Tribune Office, 2318 Melrose Ave., NW. Joyce Bolden, chairman, 540-345-8432, and any member of AKA Sorority, Beta Chi Omega Chapter may be contacted for tickets. The last day for purchase of Special Patron tickets is Friday, Nov.16; last day for General Admission tickets is Wednesday, Nov. 28.
In times like these, we need to have more community dialogue around who we are as a country, as citizens/patriots and as children of God. We hope that this Community Forum will provide food for thought to adapt to these changing times.
