Women United for Community Action held its seventh annual fashion show recently at the Holiday Inn Valley View. The audience was entertained with an inspirational dance performance by the “Unique Lee Divine” dance group. The Fashion show featured a display of beautiful clothes and furs from local designers. The WUCA has donated over $25,000.00 to community youth groups since 2011. The deserving groups receiving 2018 awards are Toadally Kidz Child Care Center, Apple Ridge Farm; NAACP-ACTSO and VA Raptor’s Track Club.
Garland Gravely was the fashion coordinator organizing the show; room decorations were by Barry Langhorn, Monique Randolph was Mistress of Ceremony and Jerome Buckner served as the DJ.
Applications for next year’s awards will be distributed in November.
Women United for Community Action also visited the Melrose Adventist Child Development Center and presented them with a donation for supplies. WUCA is a non-profit organization that helps youth groups and facilities in the Roanoke Valley. Normally applications for monetary awards are distributed in November and presented the committee for distribution at the Annual Fashion Show held each year.
