My College Doll is a clothing and accessory line that inspires young girls to attend college in a fun and exciting way.

WASHINGTON, DC — On April 1, My College Doll, LLC, officially opened its online store for business. My College Doll is a clothing and accessory line created by 9-year-old CEO, Inara Aiyana, that inspires young girls to attend college and further their education.
“My College Doll gives girls a way to mix the idea of college into their playtime and helps them to think about the bright side of college. I want young girls to be excited about their future and all the things they can do, learn, and create,” said Inara.
Inara came up with the idea of My College Doll last summer after wanting to dress her doll in college gear to attend an alumni cookout with her mom. Inara explained, “I found a t-shirt on a teddy bear that my mom had when she was in school and I put it on my doll. On the way there, I told my mom that I wish I had more college clothes for my doll. My mom said you could make some. My response, I will start my own business!”
Valerie Rasheed Dale, Correlli Rasheed, and Rev. Clinton Scott of Roanoke the proud grandparents are excited to see their granddaughter carry on the families’ entrepreneurs’ legacy.
“This is such a proud mom moment to see my child display this level of determination and passion about her business,” said Anisah Rasheed, Inara’s mother. “Our family has always had a strong focus on creating your own and making a difference. We have at least 4 generations of female entrepreneurs in our family,” she added. Inara’s mother started her first business at the age of 9, going on to be named “Kidpreneur of the Year” by Black Enterprise magazine in 1999. She received several awards and honors and was featured in Black Enterprise, Working Woman, Essence magazine and Essence Book, “50 of the Most Inspiring African Americans.”
My College Doll offers a variety of t-shirts and accessories for girls and their 18-inch dolls as well. The line incorporates pieces, such as the “Future Looks Like Me” t-shirt, which inspires girls to picture themselves as the future business owners, doctors, educators, and change agents of the world. The business also has a line of items geared toward Historically Black Colleges and Universities (i.e. Florida A&M University, Howard, Hampton, and North Carolina A&T State Universities).
