The Colonel William Preston Chapter of the NSDAR presented over $700.00 to the Roanoke City Library Foundation to purchase books about the American Revolution.
“Black Heroes of the American Revolution” by Burke Davis is one of the books selected for purchase in support of the Star City Reads program. Everyone visiting or living in the United States is invited to celebrate the 250th birthday of the United States.
The NSDAR initiated programs to promote lesser know “heroes” of the war through an exhibit at the O. Winston Link/History Museum of Native American, Women and people of color who were instrumental in the fight for freedom.
