Delta Announces 2015 Scholarships

The Scholarship Committee of the Roanoke Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. proudly awarded scholarships to seven area high school seniors.  Students were selected based upon need, grades and plans to enroll in an accredited college in the fall of 2015.

The following scholarship recipients, their parents, chosen college & major of study are from:

William Fleming High School, Ariel S. Austin; parents, Joseph and Dorothy Austin; Radford University; Major, Music; Sierra I. Brown; parents, Celeste Brown and Marcus Brown; Virginia Commonwealth University; Major, Mass Communications; Northside High School, Dontese T. Johnson; parents, Chasity and Cairo Charles; Old Dominion University; Major, Physical Therapy; Salem High School, Ashton M. Ledbetter; parents, Julius and Artice Ledbetter; University of Mary Washington; Major, Business; Lauryn N. Major; parents, Elliott and Marcia Major, University of Virginia; Major: International Relations; William Byrd High School, Megan R. Fry; parents, Robert and Cathy Fry; Jefferson College of Health; Major: Nursing; Lord Botetourt High School, Brianna M. Palazzola, parent, Rochelle Palazzola; James Madison University; Major: Engineering.

The chapter is extremely proud of these students and their accomplishments.  The recipients and their parents were recognized during the chapter’s May Week’s events which included the “Recognition of Youth Celebration” at Round Hill Elementary and the Sunday worship service at Williams Memorial Baptist.

Scholarship chair is Saron McEnheimer-Young.  Diane Jones is the chapter president.
