The Roanoke Valley Breakfast Lions Club will welcome Emily Witt, Director of Community Relations for Good Samaritan Hospice, as its featured speaker from 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 5, at Golden Corral.
Witt’s topic will be “Finding Hope in Hospice and the Difference a Community-Based Non-Profit Organization Makes.” As Director of Community Relations at Good Samaritan Hospice, Witt is dedicated to building strong community partnerships and increasing awareness of hospice, palliative care, and home health services throughout the region. She is passionate about educating healthcare professionals, community organizations, patients, and families about the value of compassionate, patient-centered care.
Witt’s career in hospice care was inspired by a personal experience that demonstrated the profound difference compassionate end-of-life care can make for both patients and their loved ones. That experience continues to drive her commitment to helping individuals navigate some of life’s most challenging moments with dignity, comfort, and support.
In her role, Witt collaborates with healthcare providers, senior living communities, civic organizations, and local businesses to strengthen community connections and improve access to quality care. Her work focuses on ensuring that patients and families understand the resources available to them and receive the support they need during difficult times.
Beyond her professional responsibilities, Witt is an active volunteer with the Walk to End Alzheimer’s, where she has contributed to fundraising and community engagement efforts for several years. She is committed to giving back, advocating for patients and caregivers, and making a meaningful difference in the lives of those she serves.
A Virginia native, Witt is honored to use her voice to educate, inspire and advocate for compassionate healthcare throughout the community.
