Lucy Addison High School Class of 1961 holds 58th Class Reunion

The Lucy Addison Class of 1961 held its 58th Class Reunion, August 9-11 at the Holiday Inn-Valley View in Roanoke.

The Reunion began Friday, Aug. 11, as classmates received a hearty welcome and registration gifts. The Hospitality Committee prepared games and gifts which added to a wonderful evening of fellowship and celebration.

On Saturday, the class held it’s annual meeting, conducted business and voted overwhelmingly to have its 60th year Class Reunion in 2021. A class picture was taken by Clifford “Hootie’’ Ramey, photographer.

The Banquet Hall was decorated with the schools’ colors of Blue and White. The evening program included “A Walk Down Memory Lane” narrated by Carole Harris and Mary Hinmon. A Memorial Service was presided by Maxine Meeks, assisted by Mary Hinmon.

Class Certificates of Participation were awarded by Class President Carolyn Patterson and Class Vice President William “Billy” MeBane. The evening concluded with the singing of the school’s Alma Mater and enjoyed DJ music by Clifford “Hootie” Ramey to top off the evening.

On Sunday, Aug. 11, 30 members of the class worshipped at Jerusalem Baptist Church, pastored by the Rev. Floyd W. Gregory, Jr. Following the worship service, the class returned to the Holiday Inn for a Farewell Brunch, Class members left feeling very gratified after having such a grand reunion.

The 1961 LAHS Class officers are President, Carolyn Patterson, Vice President, William Billy MeBane, Secretary, Regina Jones, Treasurer, Gloria Jernigan and Chaplain, Loretta Barksdale.
