Akaylynea Coles traveled to Fairfax, VA the weekend of August 26 – 28 to participate in the state competition of the MAC Coed Pageant, 2016. The contestants were judged on 1/3 poise & appearances in evening wear, 1/3 personal introduction & appearance in interview wear, and 1/3 self-confidence, poise & personality in personal interviews. Akaylynea placed in the top 5 in the modeling category, won in the Pre-teen division and was crowned “2016 Miss Delmarva” (a tristate title) and will now represents the states of Delaware, Maryland and Virginia!

MAC (Miss American Coed) Pageants, is a scholarship pageant system for girls and young women between the ages of 3 and 22.  Each year the American Coed has presented thousands of dollars in cash awards, prizes and scholarships to contestants from all over the United States.  MAC Pageants have been the country’s most popular pageants for girls for several reasons, the events are family-oriented, age-appropriate and younger contestants are not allowed to wear make-up.

Akaylynea is 12 years old and attends Breckinridge Middle School where she enjoys cheerleading, math and being with her friends.  She is a member of High Street Baptist Church and also attends Layman Baptist Church. Her parents are David E., III and Donna K. Coles, and she is the granddaughter of William T. & Ahondryea C. Brooks.  Her coach is Thomas R. Stokes, all of Roanoke.

Akaylynea will defend her title at the National competition in Orlando, FL this November.
