Generalization can lead to a racist perspective which is the most awful human act that not only harms one group of people, it affects the entire society. In today’s America, generalization has become a common practice that a White person can simply say, “ He is a Black or a foreigner” and blame him/her for a negative behavior or an act committed that the color of the skin or the ethnicity definitely does not contribute to any action of the person.
And conversely, which is a complete double standard that if a Black or a foreigner person achieves a professional position or obtains an award, the same White person will say, “The reason for such an achievement because he is a Black or foreigner, that is why he/she got it.”
It is disappointing to hear such statements from some people in the community, and indeed it can be discouraging for many Blacks and foreigners/Non-Whites. However, misjudgment of the minorities in America is observed on a daily basis, and further they strive, more challenges they encounter. Apparently, misjudgment and mistreatment are not coming from the members of the public only, groups and politicians are guilty of such actions in American society.
Often, Democrats and Republicans, liberal and Conservative groups hastily throw their balls in the basket and judge the supporters based on race and ethnicity. The belief that the minorities are always aligning with Democrats and the Whites are with Republicans has become an immutable law for liberal and conservative groups, which is a generalization and false belief.
America has been divided between the two major political parties and both are aiming at different groups of people and expecting positive results with no exceptions. Evidently, politics has influenced people and created a negative behavior against each other in American society.
America lacks a political tolerance and understanding of ideological differences which are not based on a person’s race or ethnicity. It is important to establish a mindset to realize that there are factors for every person in America, regardless of the race and ethnicity, that lead him/her to prefer one political party over the other.
It is a political right for a Black and a foreigner/non White person to support either the Republican or the Democratic Party. American people should reject the political generalization and the political party’s presumed entitlement to a specific race or ethnicity’s vote. Also, be mindful that the major endorsers who remotely drive the political figures and influence the political parties are causing division in the public, as well.
After all, generalization based on race, ethnicity, and political affiliation can obviously lead to misjudgment, conflict, and chaos in the American society, and it must be rejected.
