One of America’s most successful cookie chains just opened a store in Roanoke. Located in the Old Country Plaza near Mill Mountain Coffee and Buffalo Wild Wings, in Cave Spring. The highly anticipated Crumbl Cookie had its grand opening Aug. 21.

Jermaine Williams, who attended the opening day, described the occasion as “festive and vibrant.” He continued, “Everyone was just as excited as the next person. My go-to snacks are usually cookies. I may have entered the store empty-handed, but I left with enough cookies to last me and my wife for a whole week.”

Owner Patrick Gardner has locations in both Lynchburg and Blacksburg. As he explained, “Bringing the chain to Roanoke was always part of the plan. It was just a matter of time.”

The first featured lineup was European-inspired: Crème Brûlée Cookie, Cannoli Cookie, Chocolate Tiramisu Cake, Vanilla Chocolate Gelato Cookie and Stroopwafel Sandwich Cookie.

Cookie giveaways and merch were also part of the celebration.

The Roanoke Regional Chamber of Commerce reported, “Crumbl brings something new to look forward to with every visit. From classic chocolate chip cookies to mini pies, cakes, and other unique treats, there’s something for every sweet tooth.”

Founded by cousins Sawyer Hemsley and Jason McGowan in 2017, Crumbl Cookies has since expanded to more than 1,100 locations across the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. The multinational franchise is headquartered in Logan, UT.

“It’s never too early or too late to dream. I started Crumbl Cookies at the age of 27 during my senior year of college while attending Utah State University,” Hemsley previously wrote on social media. “Never did I ever think we would become the category leader in the market.”

He added, “A box of cookies became a box of memories, milestones and magic. To our customers: you’ve supported us, celebrated with us and let us into some of your most meaningful moments.”

Several things distinguish Crumbl from its competitors. Unlike other chains, the menu isn’t fixed. More than 270 recipes can be found in its catalogue. Each week, new flavors are offered.

“The first time that I experienced Crumbl was when I visited family in California during my sophomore year in college,” Roanoke County resident Monica Saunders said. “I’ve been a fan ever since.”

Crumbl offers a variety of other sweets, such as cupcakes and parfaits. Customers can even order through DoorDash. Additional information is available at www.crumblcookies.com/stores/va/roanoke.
