Kevon “KB” Bagot has been coaching at the high school level for years.
When he served as the assistant athletic director and director of summer experience at Lipscomb Academy in Nashville, Tennessee, he increased the program’s revenue by more than 60 percent.
Before that, he spent roughly a decade at The Village School in Houston, serving as head football coach. In 2019, he led the program to a TAPPS Division V State Championship. His time there was also spent building the girls’ lacrosse program.
On March 31, North Cross announced Bagot as its new head football coach. He replaces Dwayne Priest, who was relieved of duties after two years.
Speaking to members of the media afterwards, Bagot said, “The formula is the kids for me. I’m looking to create a new experience with them and make sure that they feel appreciated. Once I do that, I will introduce them to my philosophy, which is basically structured around the relentless pursuit of excellence.”
He added, “I’ve already met with the students and explained my vision moving forward. Their responsibility is to take care of all the small things, and we will do the rest. A culture of excellence has already been established here. I am excited to add to it.”
At Willowridge High in Houston, the same school that produced Texas Longhorn T.J. Ford and Duke Blue Devil Daniel Ewing, Bagot played defensive lineman. At Louisiana Tech University, he switched to the offensive lineman position.
Having played at the highest level of college sports, Bagot knows what it takes to get there and maximize your potential. The importance of understanding how the decisions we make today impact our outcomes in the future is something his players will soon understand.
“I’m old school in the sense that I’m going to hit you with the punchline that offense sells tickets, defense wins championships. So if I have it my way, we’re going to make it fun. We’re going to make it exciting,” he said. “Guys are going to be flying around and fireworks are going to be flying.”
The former student-athlete holds a master’s degree in Coaching and Athletic Administration from Concordia University Irvine.
